This is because not every liposuction operation can automatically be recognized as an extraordinary expense in your tax return. Here is an overview of the key criteria:  <\/p><ul><li>Liposuction must be medically necessary and not purely for cosmetic purposes. This must be proven by a medical certificate. <\/li><li>The costs may not be covered by health insurance. If your health insurance company refuses to cover the costs, you can declare the expenses for lipoedema surgery on your tax return. <\/li><li>It must be a scientifically recognized treatment method. The extraordinary expenses that you can claim in your tax return after lipoedema surgery include various expenses: <\/p><ul><li>Medical fees and clinic fees<\/li><li>Costs for preliminary and follow-up examinations and lymphatic drainage<\/li><li>Travel costs to treatments<\/li><li>Co-payments for medication, bandages and compression stockings<\/li><\/ul><div> <\/div><p>It is important that you keep all receipts and invoices for your lipoedema surgery carefully so that you can prove the expenses in your tax return. This includes not only the invoices for the actual operation, but also for all related treatments and purchases. <\/p><p>Carefully collect all receipts, prescriptions and transfer documents that are related to your lipoedema surgery and could be important for your tax return. Organize the documents chronologically and keep them at least until you have completed your tax return, preferably a few years longer. This way you are on the safe side in case the tax office has any queries or requests additional documents.  <\/p><p>Don&#8217;t be afraid to claim smaller amounts, as travel costs or co-payments for medication can quickly add up, especially with such a cost-intensive treatment as liposuction.
